Description
“Zeus: Dissidio e Furia” (Zeus: Conflict and Fury) tells the epic account of the battle of Zeus against the Titans and the Giants in his ascent to the throne. The composition opens with a long and stressful progression of sounds that will eventually lead to the beginning of the battle … this introduction portrays Zeus’s inner conflict before the fight against the Titans. Thanks to a harsh and obscure compositional idiom, this beginning underlines his mood filled with profound worry, anxiety, and terror. All of a sudden the fury! Zeus pounces with unheard-of violence on the Titans who succumb after a gory fight. Hearing the agonizing cries, the god suddenly turns around: a scenario of death and destruction moves him to stop and look at what his rage has caused … This moment of stasis, though, is not destined to last as Zeus is forced to face the Giants whom he manages to defeat after a brief but slaughtering battle. From then on, Zeus reins sovereign as King of the Gods!
