Teresa Procaccini

Is the composer of a vast production, (about 150 works), including operas, symphonic pieces, chamber works, teaching works which have been performed both in Italy and abroad. After having been awarded her diploma in piano, organ and composition (with Virgilio Mortari) in 1971 and 1972 she directed the Foggia Conservatory. At present she teaches at the “Santa Cecilia” Conservatory in Rome. She has won national and international competitions and has held specialisation courses in composition at the Festival Città di Castello (Italy), at the “Respighi Academy” in Assisi (Italy), at the Internazionale Meisterkursen in Düren (Germany) and the “Frentana Music Summer” in Lanciano (Italy). Her works have been published by Sonzogno, Zanibon, Edipan, Bongiovanni, Curci, Leduc, Seesaw, Rugginenti, Agenda and Scomegna. Constant evolution under the sign of great consistency: this might be proposed as an extremely synthetic definition of Teresa Procaccini’s music. Every works she produced clearly belongs to the time in which it appears yet she still keeps faith with formal classical values and with a melodic manner expressed without any complexes. Throughout Procaccini’s productive career invention has always travelled along a twin path: the path of rhythmic impulse which feeds on moods dear to such as Bartok and Stravinskij, and the path of poetics whose basis is whorthy of the finest italian tradition.
