Stéphane Kregar

Stéphane Kregar began his musicological studies in 1991 at the Sorbonne in Paris, where he also became the solo tubist of the symphonic orchestra. He performed many concerts with José Van Damme and participated in the creation of the composition for six pianos and orchestra by Marius Constant under the direction of Georges Prêtre in 1997. At the same time, he also studied with Philippe Legris (at the Conservatoire in Paris) and François Thullier (at the Conservatory of Music of Amiens), and he was awarded first prize as a tubist at the Paris Competition in 1999. He currently plays with the orchestras of Oise and Picardie and performs in the ensembles of Eddy Louiss, Laurent Cugny, Claude Egea, Bojan “Z”, Geoffroy Tamisier, and Yoschko Seffer. He is also a member of the sextet A’Brass and professor of tuba and jazz in various institutions. Kregar is the director of the jazz department at the Conservatory of Music of Beauvaisis and of the wind band of Clermont, where he enjoys adding ethnic and contemporary elements to the traditional repertoire. As a composer, he is often commissioned to write pieces for symphony orchestra, wind band, and other ensembles. His compositions, published in France and other countries, are commonly performed in performance contests.
