Nicola Ferro

Coming from a family of musicians, Nicola Ferro approached music through the study of the piano. Subsequently, he undertook the study of the trombone, and he attended the State Conservatory of Music “G. Martucci” of Salerno, where, in 1996, he brilliantly earned the diploma in trombone performance under the guidance of Roberto Bianchi. He then furthered his musical studies at the Conservatory “San Pietro a Majella” in Naples and obtained his final degree in July 2011 with the highest grade and the praise of the judging committee. During his career as an orchestral musician, Ferro performed in Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg, Denmark, Brazil, and the U.S.A. with the most representative Italian orchestras. Currently, he is the principal trombone of the “Filarmonica Salernitana”, the Orchestra of the Verdi Theatre in Salerno conducted by Daniel Oren. For many years, he was Professor of Trumpet and Trombone at the State Conservatory of Music “G. Martucci” of Salerno; presently, he teaches at the Conservatory of Music “E.R. Duni” of Matera. He has also studied composition and applied music computer science with Robert Altieri and Bruno Tommaso. Ferro is a composer and arranger for Alessi Publications of New York, and he has collaborated with Joseph Alessi (principal trombone of the New York Philharmonic) in several musical projects.
