The title
In the original band music, the various instrument sections play a fundamental role. The musical score is a kind of palette with the brass, woodwind, reeds and small instruments acting as symbolic colours. An image like "Sun Rising" is the perfect kind of image to paint with a fine brush of sounds. The brass instruments present the opening theme, which is rhythmic, strong and distinct. It is then the turn of the other instruments, colouring the evocative landscape by adding melodic and song-like elements. As the piece develops we witness a contrast and alternation of the different characters of these two moments. The achieved picture acquires a symbolic value which becomes important and evocative when followed by a unique event such as, in the case of the author, the birth of a son.
